Interpretation

Aircraft flying in Beirut FIR shall be aware of possible loss of GPS/GNSS signal due to increased jamming and/or spoofing of global navigation satellite systems in the Mediterranean area. LEB ANS has implemented a contingency plan, including procedures to be followed in case of large-scale GNSS jamming and/or spoofing events. Conventional ATS routes, STARs, and approach procedures referenced to ground navaids are highly recommended. RNAV(GNSS) STARs and RNP approach procedures are still possible if requested by the pilot and at the pilot's own discretion.
